RHPC Meetings
RHPC meetings are generally scheduled for the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, usually from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Skyline Ranch. At each meeting, there is typically a dismounted classroom lesson, a mounted lesson, and barn chores that all members participate in.
The more experienced and higher-rated members are expected to help instruct the less experienced lower-rated members. Members ride in mounted lessons for approximately 1 hour in groups organized by horse availability or skill level.
Many RHPC members rent a horse from Skyline Ranch for use at meetings ($30 per meeting, subject to increases). Horse assignments are made by Skyline Ranch's trainer and manager.
Pony club members are also required to have at least one additional riding lesson per week outside of RHPC mounted meetings. These lessons do not have to be taught by a Pony Club instructor, but should be taught using a Pony Club-compatible method.
Other RHPC Activities
In addition to our regular meetings, RHPC members engage in a variety of other activities depending on interest. All of these activities rely on club volunteer coordinators (see Volunteer Roles, on the Membership page). Activities in recent years have included: overnight camping trip, Quiz Rally, Pony Palooza, and more.
